Bitter Lake Presents Soundwaves Ep 12: This is Trump's Herbert Hoover Moment
Thursday Mar 19, 2020

Episode 12
In this episode we discuss the comparisons between the great failing of 31st President Herbert Hoover, who many feel responsible for the greatest financial tragedy in American history, and our current President Donald Trump. The blunder of the Trump administration maybe the botched handling of the current coronavirus. The president has constantly changed his stance on the virus, at one point even calling it a Democratic plot against him. Lack of testing, coupled with lack of action have caused not just a major disruption in American life, but also a downturn in the stock market.
Thank you guys for checking this out, we understand many of you may not be working and stuck at home, so this entire episode is free. No bonus content this week. If you can become a patron. You'll get all the bonus content, concerts and SO MUCH MORE!!

Episode 11
In this episode I was blessed enough to get former bank regulator, now financial director Nina Qualls-Mendoza, and Tonya Love District Director. I can't lie, I was a bit disheartened by the results from this past Tuesday's primaries. What I hated most was the narrative the Bernie Sanders doesn't connect with black voters, while Joe Biden, a man who has a HORRIBLE RECORD with the black community is the go to choice because he was VP under Obama. Hearing that same story over and over again, on mainstream media, I know that the casual black voter might even start to believe. it. We often hear, "People want a return to normalcy". What is "normalcy" under a Biden presidency; especially when he was a part of the administration that gave us Trump? We also discuss black women's role in leading radical movements.
Always, thank you guys so much for listening, if you haven't already become a patron and get all the bonus content and even more FREE STUFF!!

Hello, and thank you again for tuning in. WE'RE AT EPISODE NUMBER 10! For the month of March, we're going to be discussing criminal justice reform with a bunch of guests from the public defenders office, to historians, and of course prison abolitionists.
This week we have on luthier, and guitar tech Greg Day. Greg works with everyone from Slayer, Faith No More, Rancid to Bitter Lake. Greg is not just the man that helps us maintain our tone, he's one of the smartest, kindest people we know. We share books, and thoughts on all things socialism, anarchism, and we are constantly giving our critique of capital. So Greg was not too pleased when I told him to watch the new Netflix docuseries, "The Trial of Gabriel Fernandez". In short, it's a six part series about the murder of an 8 year old boy by his mother and her boyfriend. As the series progresses we see that breakdowns in the system led to the boy's untimely demise. I wanted to use this story as a jumping off point for our criminal justice reform series.
Thank you again for listening, we truly appreciate you guys and your comments on these shows, if you like the content you're getting, please, please, please become a patron. You get ALL the bonus content, plus Bitter Lake merch and special live streams. Okay, here are the links:

"But what about Weinstein?" This the line that has become synonymous with defenders of black men who commit sexual assault. You hear it so often in some sort of defense of Cosby's heinous actions. Cosby's crimes can now be absolved since a white man was accused (no found guilty in a New York court )of something equally as odious. This is not what equality looks like my fellow brothers and sisters. Yes, from time immemorial, black men have been accused of, convicted of, killed because of alleged sexual assaults. We acknowledge that. The scales of justice historically have not tipped in favor of the black man. All that being said, trying to discredit one's argument, or belittle the TRUTH by trying to call them hypocrite, WITHOUT proving the action wrong (in this case rape/sexual assault) does nothing to prove your point, it just becomes a classic case of Whataboutism. We discuss this in the latest episode.
