Well it’s been not a full week since the events of great storming of the Capital by a mix of QAnon conspires, MAGA heads, Proud Boys, and well, just a bunch of people that have bought into the current administration’s false claims about the election being stolen. Would these claims have had the same merit, the same effect on masses of people had not the Russiagate narrative be shoved down the throat of the American people ad nauseam by mainstream media? Twitter and Facebook, after the events of Monday and a GOP mutiny of the Trump wing of the GOP have banned permanently the 45th president. Is it too little too late? Is it the all-controlling hand of “Big Brother” silencing decent? I mean wasn’t this part of Kamala Harris’ presidential platform? Remember on the debate stage Harris calling for the muting of Trump’s Twitter account?
A race reductionist argument is also fanning the flames as well. Mainstream media to YouTube pundits persist with the claim that only because the participants of the short siege of the Capitol building were white they weren’t harmed, or treated as heavy handed as BLM. 5 people died, one being an officer. Another woman was trampled to death, of course many people saw one woman shot in the neck trying to break into the sealed doors of Congress. Are we building back better? Is the current administration, which has already shown us that they are NOT going to be fundamentally different than the previous neoliberal ones we’ve seen previously lead us to “restore the soul of America?” Is neoliberalism and the warmongering neoconservatives at the core of the rot of the country? I have some homies here to help us answer these questions.

THIS IS REVOLUTION>podcast Ep.100: NEVER GIVE UP THE STREET w/ Mike Davis
Sunday Jan 17, 2021
Sunday Jan 17, 2021
I can't lie, I discovered the work of Mike Davis late. I had heard the name before, but didn't really know his work. After hearing him on a podcast earlier in the year I got decided to buy his book "City of Quartz" and reading it, I was blown away by it's prescience. If you don't know Mike Davis, he's a social commentator, urban theorist, historian, and political activist. He is best known for his investigations of power and social class in his native Southern California. He is the recipient of the MacArthur Fellowship and the Lannan Literary Award.
Again, thank you Mike for taking the time to talk to all of us, we appreciate your work and all that you continue to do.
From the book "City of Quartz":
"Like the Tramp scares of the 19th century or the Red Scare in the 20th, the contemporary gang scare has become an imaginary class relationship, a terrain of pseudo-knowledge and fantasy projection. But as long as the actual violence was more or less confined to the ghetto, the gang wars were also a voyeuristic titillation to white suburbanites devouring lurid imagery in their newspapers or on the television. Then in December 1987 frisson became fear as Southside gang hitmen mistakenly gunned down a young woman outside a theater in teh posh Westwood Village entertainment district near UCLA. Westwood's influential merchants, who had recently induced the LAPD to enforce curfew ordinances to repel non-white youthfrom the Village, clamored for extra police protection, while local Council Member Zev Yaroslavsky, then essaying a Koch-like challenge to Mayor Bradley, posted a huge reward for apprehension of the 'urban terrorists'.

THIS IS REVOLUTION>podcast Ep. 99: White Reconstruction w/ Professor Dylan Rodríquez
Wednesday Jan 13, 2021
Wednesday Jan 13, 2021
In this episode we speak with professor in the Department of Media and Cultural Studies at the University of California, Riverside, Dylan Rodríquez. I came across professor Rodríquez's work through a mutual friend and really appreciated a lot of what professor Dylan has to say to about state of things in this country. The role of empire and capitalism, and of course we discussed his current book "White Reconstruction: Domestic WArfare and the Logics of Genocide" and his previous work, "Suspended Apocalypse: White Supremacy, Genocide and the Filipino Condition".
About 'White Reconstruction':
We are in the fray of another signature moment in the long history of the United States as a project of anti Black and racial–colonial violence. Long before November 2016, white nationalism, white terrorism, and white fascist statecraft proliferated. Thinking across a variety of archival, testimonial, visual, and activist texts—from Freedmen’s Bureau documents and the “Join LAPD” hiring campaign to Barry Goldwater’s hidden tattoo and the Pelican Bay prison strike—Dylan Rodríguez counter-narrates the long “post–civil rights” half-century as a period of White Reconstruction, in which the struggle to reassemble the ascendancy of White Being permeates the political and institutional logics of diversity, inclusion, formal equality, and “multiculturalist white supremacy.”
Throughout White Reconstruction, Rodríguez considers how the creative, imaginative, speculative collective labor of abolitionist praxis can displace and potentially destroy the ascendancy of White Being and Civilization in order to create possibilities for insurgent thriving.
You can find Professor Rodríquez's, 'White Reconstruction' here:

"As of January 2019, California had an estimated 151,278 experiencing homelessness on any given day, as reported by Continuums of Care to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Of that Total, 7,044 were family households, 10,980 were Veterans, 11,993 were unaccompanied young adults (aged 18-24), and 41,557 were individuals experiencing chronic homelessness.
Public school data reported to the U.S. Department of Education during the 2017-2018 school year shows that an estimated 263,058 public school students experienced homelessness over the course of the year. Of that total, 10,407 students were unsheltered, 17,299 were in shelters, 13,713 were in hotels/motels, and 221,639 were doubled up"
-Taken from the United States Interagency Council on Homelessness
These pre pandemic numbers should serve to be a staggering reminder that even before the Earth stood still with the pandemic, the real economy was in shambles. All over the San Francisco Bay Area homeless encampments are popping up in areas that it would've been unheard of to see them. The reality becomes all too real as we step closer to the end of the rent moratorium (some cities have already started evicting people)and more people will be forced out to the streets.
There is no real federal plan to help people that have lost jobs and healthcare due to COVID-19. A CARES Act that has bailed out the 1% to the tune of BILLIONS made during the pandemic, while the most vulnerable of us are left to fend for ourselves. While congress and the senate fight over giving or not giving Americans $2,000, real people have been on the ground doing incredible work to help this vulnerable population.
Kelvin Martinez works with the unhoused population in Southern California and is a mental health worker. A therapist by trade, he has been out in the streets doing what he can to not only bring attention to the plight of the unhoused, but also to help people. In this episode we talk about the real efforts on the ground to make a difference.

In the midst of a deadly pandemic that to date has infected a total of 17,314,834[1] people and taken the lives of 311,150 U.S. citizens, we have a governing body that is too busy protecting the interests of capital and not that of its people. Of the 311,000+ dead, Black, Hispanic and Native populations are not just dying at a higher rate, but they are dying YOUNGER[2].
With the contagious virus ripping through cities at an unparalleled rate, a shut down of the economy was in order to try to stop the intense spread and flatten the curve. Without a strong moratorium on rent and mortgages coupled with a one-time payment of $1,200, evictions have already started in many U.S cities. A study from the Aspen Institute this August said we’re looking at possibly 30-40 MILLION people evicted from their homes increasing an ever-growing homeless problem in the richest nation in the world.
With a possibility of another round of one-time payments from the government and no universal healthcare on the horizon, the controlling duopoly is failing the majority of poor and working class Americans. The incoming Biden administration ran on “restoring the soul of America”. With a cabinet filled with firsts (first Native Woman, first openly Gay Man, etc.) trotting out people of various ethnic backgrounds and sexual orientations means little when the politics of these incumbents is in line with protecting the empire and capital much like their predecessors.
After watching president elect Joe Biden scream at a panel of leading Civil Rights leaders about the merits of his administration and his record, a record that has done everything from ramp up incarceration in poor and Black and Brown communities, to preventing cash strapped citizens from adding student loan debt in their bankruptcies, Biden might be the most racially tone def president in modern history. He equated racial justice to “mixed race couples in commercials”. Is now the time that we as black people look towards a different economic system? Fred Hampton often spoke to the fact that you can’t fight the scourge of capitalism with “black capitalism”, yet many voices in the Black community are constantly trying to close a racial wealth gap by using the rhetoric of entrepreneurship and bootstrapping uplift. I feel that now is a good a time as any to ask the question, “Does Marxism have any value for Black People?”

[2] These data support the conclusion that US populations of color die of COVID-19 at younger ages as well as at higher rates than the non-Hispanic White population. Study done by Mary T. Bassett, Jarvis T. Chen, Nancy Krieger

Audio AND VIDEO leaked of Joe Biden talking to various Civil Rights leaders in a meeting is making many of us look at the man that has vowed to "Restore the Soul of a Nation" with a serious side eye. I will be speaking with good friend and journalist Pascal Robert about this, and much more.

My 2 year old son is a HUGE fan of a show we found on Netflix on a while ago called, "Chico Bon Bon: Monkey with a Toolbelt". I usually try to push him to consume 80's animation, you know, so I can relive my childhood through the eyes of a toddler. It doesn't always work with this kid, so I just watch what he wants to see 9 times outta 10 (He LOVES the Mandalorian). Chico Bon Bon has become a show I'm enjoying as well, and in watching this show that teaches preschoolers about engineering concepts I noticed something. Does Chico live in a Socialist paradise? He fixes all these engineering problems and NEVER ASKS FOR MONEY. When there is a heatwave, the mayor makes sure everyone has a popsicle. And my favorite, when automation is introduced no one loses a job or even wages, it's actually billed as a creation that will create more time for leisure. After I saw all that, I had all the evidence I needed and hit up the show creator Bob Boyle. Bob has ONE HELLUVA RESUME!
From his website:
Howdy! My name is Bob. That's a pretty darn exciting name isn't it?
I'm probably best known as the Emmy award-winning creator of Wow! Wow! Wubbzy!, an animated preschool series on Nick Jr., but I also created an animated show for Disney called Yin Yang Yo and am a frequent contributor to Sesame Street. Before all that, I was a Producer on the Fairly OddParents at Nickelodeon. And before that, I was just a skinny little kid who wanted to play football for a living.
In addition to animation and dreaming about being a football player, I also write and illustrate children's books. My first book, Hugo And The Really, Really, Really Long String, was published by Random House and my second book, Rosie & Rex, will be published by HarperCollins in early 2014.
As much as I would have loved to be a football player, I'm very happy sitting behind a desk creating silly stories that make people smile.
Mr. Boyle was a pleasant as his bio would lead you to believe and helpful as well. So glad I had the opportunity to speak with Bob, and I hope the other parents and teachers that teach preschoolers that listen to the show enjoy this one.
