IT'S FINALLY HERE! Our discussion with Dr. Charisse Burden Stelly. A little about Dr. Burden Stelly from here bio:
Charisse Burden-Stelly is an Assistant Professor and Mellon Faculty Fellow of Africana Studies and Political Science at Carleton College. She is a scholar of radical Black critical and political theory, political economy, and intellectual history. She is currently working on two book projects. The first, W.E.B. Du Bois: A Life in American History co-authored with Gerald Horne, revises and updates Dr. Horne’s biography of Du Bois with a new chapter on his continuing significance; sidebars that offer connections to larger social, political, and intellectual phenomena; and an appendix that analyzes key primary documents from Du Bois’s archives. Her single-authored manuscript, Epistemologies of Blackness, explores the conjuncture of epistemology, institutionalization, anti-Marxism, and class politics in Black Studies at the dawn of the neoliberal turn. In 2017, Dr. Burden-Stelly received the National Conference of Black Political Scientists’ Alex Willingham Best Political Theory Paper Award. She has several book chapters and articles forthcoming, and her published work appears in journals including Souls: A Critical Journal of Politics, Culture, and Society and The CLR James Journal.

My co-host and I examine the new movie based on the life of FBI informant William O'Neal, "Judas and the Black Messiah". The film is being marketed as the story of Black Panther Chairman Fred Hampton told through the lens of the man who was responsible not just for spying on the man and the organization, but for his assassination.

THIS IS REVOLUTION>podcast ep. 110: Confessions of a Drug Counselor
Sunday Feb 21, 2021
Sunday Feb 21, 2021
If you've listened to the show for a while you know that I REALLY enjoy having people on that I've met online (or in real life) that I find interesting. Our guest is, who doesn't want to be named for fear that it might hurt her career in the field is someone I've had quite a bit of correspondence with online for a while. I finally convinced her to do this episode I knew it was going to be a good one. We take a deep dive into the world of drug counselling for the unhoused, and just services overall for the unhoused population.
We also interrogate the #DefundThePolice push we've seen gain steam in aftermath of the George Floyd protests. We understand that there are situations that armed law enforcement shouldn't be responding too, but what should service actually look like? What are the pitfalls?

A subject that doesn't get much coverage in the era of bipartisan mainstream media is the plight of unhoused youth (or the unhoused for that matter.) I got a chance to speak with Dr. Robin Petering recently about the issue of vaccination rates for unhoused youth, and the unhoused in general.
Dr. Petering is the founder of LENSCO LA an organization that does outreach work with unhoused youth in Los Angeles.
Dr. Petering also hosts the Hello Dogtown podcast that highlights unhoused youth in So. Cal.

Dr. Petering also works with another great organization that's doing some amazing with with unhoused communities in L.A. KTown4All

He was the young charismatic leader of the Chicago chapter of the Black Panther Party who was gunned down by the Chicago Police Department at the behest of the F.B.I's COINTELLPRO program. Designed to neutralize the Black Panther Party and all other leftist movements that ran counter to the status quo of U.S. Imperialism and White Supremacy. Hampton a bold leader and organizer was reaching across racial boundaries to form what he would call a "Rainbow Coalition". Unfortunately he wouldn't live to see it come to fruition.
On this episode we'll be speaking with the lawyers that litigated his case for DECADES Flint Taylor and Jeff Haas.
G. Flint Taylor is a founding member of the People’s Law Office in Chicago. He was, together with Jeff Haas, a lead lawyer in the landmark Fred Hampton and Mark Clark civil rights case. He has represented numerous police torture survivors during the past 33 years. He was one of the lawyers involved in the struggle for reparations and has chronicled the decades-long fight against Chicago police violence and torture in his book, The Torture Machine: Racism and Police Violence in Chicago, which was released March 2019 by Haymarket Books. Jeff Haas is a founding partner of the People’s Law Office (PLO) in Chicago. He was, together with Flint Taylor, a lead lawyer in the landmark Fred Hampton and Mark Clark civil rights case, and was one of the main lawyers for the 17 Pontiac Brothers, wrongfully charged but acquitted in the capital murder trial for the Pontiac Prison Rebellion in 1978.
Jeff also worked with other PLO lawyers representing the victims of Chicago Police Department torturer Jon Burge. Most recently, Jeff provided legal support and represented Water Protectors at Standing Rock. He is a board member of the Water Protector Legal Collective as well as of the Adalah Justice Project. Jeff is the author of The Assassination of Fred Hampton: How the FBI and the Chicago Police Murdered a Black Panther.

Eugenics is described as is a social and political philosophy. It tries to influence the way people choose to mate and raise children, with the aim of improving the human species. Can we manipulate genes to create a better person? Are certain races predisposed to certain behaviors? Is this science inherently racist? Does eugenics justify forced sterilizations? We'll answer those questions and MORE w/ Jeff Canady.

THIS IS REVOLUTION>podcast Ep. 105: Post WWI Kurdish History w/ Dr. Djene Bajalan
Wednesday Feb 03, 2021
Wednesday Feb 03, 2021
You may see him as the game master on Zero Books Zeroquest RPGshow (that I'm on as Lieutenant Paxon Dickson!). He's also a professor of Middle Eastern History at Missouri State. We've talked about for a little bit, and I was able to get Djene on the show to do a quick history on the struggles of the Kurdish people. The 4th largest ethnic group in the Middle East without at nation state.
In the early 20th Century, many Kurds began to consider the creation of a homeland - generally referred to as "Kurdistan". After World War One and the defeat of the Ottoman Empire, the victorious Western allies made provision for a Kurdish state in the 1920 Treaty of Sevres.
Such hopes were dashed three years later, however, when the Treaty of Lausanne, which set the boundaries of modern Turkey, made no provision for a Kurdish state and left Kurds with minority status in their respective countries. Over the next 80 years, any move by Kurds to set up an independent state was brutally quashed.
-From the BBC
About Dr. Djene Bajalan(from the Missouri State website):

The Hunger Games isn’t just the brutally honest name of the annual fight-to-the-death competition organized by the Capitol, the city that dominates Panem. It’s the way that its elite controls the districts. Starvation, scarcity and minimal rewards doled out to subservient districts; the Capitol uses hunger as a weapon against the masses. It’s also a powerful metaphor for the economic system we live under today, so much so that “the Hunger Games” has now become shorthand for any especially brutally competitive environment or economy.
-"Stay Alive: Surviving Capitalism's Coming Hunger Games" by Dr. Michael Harris
In this episode we speak with one of my favorite guests and writers, Dr. Michael Harris about his new book, the riot at the capitol, the end of Trump and a return to some good ol fashioned Democratic Party neoliberalism we've come to know and love. Dr. Harris also takes a deep dive into capitalism and neoliberalisms failures during the pandemic and the fact that our leaders, as he puts it, "...just don't care about people.."

I have once again been deleted by the almighty social media platform Facebook. Again, I have no idea why. This will be the second time in less than 10 days. There's seems to have been a purging of left wing pages and people. This is from the World Wide Socialist Website:
On Friday, Facebook carried out a purge of left-wing, antiwar and progressive pages and accounts, including leading members of the Socialist Equality Party. Facebook gave no explanation why the accounts were disabled or even a public acknowledgement that the deletions had occurred
At least a half dozen leading members of the Socialist Equality Party had their Facebook accounts permanently disabled. This included the public account of Genevieve Leigh, the national secretary of the International Youth and Students for Social Equality, and the personal account of Niles Niemuth, the US managing editor of the World Socialist Web Site. In 2016, Niemuth was the Socialist Equality Party’s candidate for US Vice President.
Facebook also disabled the London Bus Drivers Rank-and-File Committee Facebook page, which was set up with the support of the Socialist Equality Party (UK) to organize opposition among bus drivers. This follows a widely discussed call for a walkout by bus drivers to demand elementary protections against the COVID-19 pandemic.
Read the entire article here:

This particular episode was recorded after my 1st deletion from Facebook, and before my livestream co-host Pascal Robert was subsequently deleted by Facebook as well.
